Kevin Smith Double Feature: Clerks & Chasing Amy

It's a f---ing cool Epic Film Friday. We're featuring two great films from the kindly, outspoken indie King: Kevin Smith. His first film Clerks and one of his hugely successful films Chasing Amy, that stars a very young Ben Affleck.

Clerks (1994) defined the independent film movement that broke out in the mid-nineties. It also kick-started writer-director Kevin Smith's career and introduced the iconic characters: Jay and Silent Bob.
Dante Hicks is a clerk at a local convenience store in New Jersey. On one particular Saturday morning, he gets called in on his day off. Once there, he must deal with multiple problems. The shutters outside won't open. His ex-girlfriend, whom he is still in love with, is getting married. His girlfriend, who bugs him about starting college, has revealed certain, uh...stuff about her past. His boss hasn't come in to take his place. He has a hockey game at 2 o'clock... Can Dante handle it all? 92min/R

Chasing Amy (1997) takes on some pretty bold topics and stars Ben Affleck and Joey Lauren Adams.
Holden and Banky are comic book artists. Everything's going well for them until they meet Alyssa, also a comic book artist. Holden falls for her, but his hopes are crushed when he finds out she has a secret. 111min/AA

We're combining these films with two Hamilton Film Festival short films: Homeless by Craig F. Watkins and Robbing Blind by Mike Chantaj.

Chasing Amy: 9:30pm
